Beam Loss Monitor (BLM) is a detector which uses ionization caused by interaction between charged particle or gamma-ray and internal gas.
Its sensitivity for those particle is too high and response time is pretty short, so you can use this detector for check the loss in proton accelerator or heavy-ion accelerator systems. |
